About & History

The Jewish Community Council of Canarsie is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit agency that acts as the community’s trusted advocate in identifying and responding to communal needs. Since 1981 it works hard to combat hunger, homelessness, family and domestic violence, prejudice, and poverty in the Southeastern Brooklyn area.

The JCC of Canarsie provides food, comfort, counseling, case management, transportation, and hope to more than 7,000 clients each year. Our staff members serve as a lifeline for impoverished elderly, needy families, near-poor individuals, recent immigrants, and at-risk youth.
